In the beginning of this year I decided I needed to change things up and take my fitness and health to the next level. I was in a rut and needed change. I had been doing the same workouts mixing it up here and there but was bored. I wasn’t excited about my workouts anymore and I hit a plateau. My goal has always been to gain more muscle mass but I have not achieved that with how I had been doing things (truth be told- I wasn’t following the other programs as I should have with the nutrition and I needed to buy heavier weights which I finally did) I have always eaten clean but knew in the back of my head I could do better. So, when this awesome opportunity for the online test group came up I knew I had to jump on it!
I am sharing my experience of phase 1 which is the first 4 weeks- 26 days!
First off, this program is for 80 days broken down into 3 phases- I know that sounds like a long time but reality is, this is a lifestyle not something you do and then go back to your old ways. I don’t think you will want to when you see how amazing you feel and not to mention the positive changes in your body. I will say this is not for beginners, you do need a base level of fitness so if you feel you don’t have that, you can start out with the mini program A little Obsessed which is a 5 day program to get you ready for 80 DO! The focus is on abs and booty with timed nutrition- at first I thought yikes this is too much but then that thought popped in my head “In order to have something you have never had, you must do things you have never done before.” So here I am on phase 2 now!
There are 80 different workouts in the program so you will not get sick of the workouts- they are all a little different and totally challenging. The equipment needed is: a selection of free weights, resistance loops, sliders, a mat, foam roller and the supplements (these are optional but recommended). I started out doing this without the supplements but to be honest, they help and aid in recovery. Oh and can’t forget these babies: the portion control containers!
Now onto the nutrition part! Ok, If I’m being totally honest, I thought I didn’t need this part. I have always eaten a clean diet and I thought I had a good idea what worked for my body but there is always room for improvement. Since I wanted change, I decided to follow the nutrition. Once I figured it out this plan is super simple and easy to follow! The portion control containers make it so easy to get the right amounts of everything- it is really simple! At first I felt like all I was doing was eating and thinking of food because it was such a new way of doing things but now it’s becoming a routine. This is where it can become overwhelming especially if you are not used to using the containers, following a plan or meal prepping. I realized I was not eating balanced meals before and thought I could get all my greens in in one sitting (think huge salad) but what I wasn’t realizing is that your body can not process it all at once and needs to have the other macros along with the meals such as carbs, proteins and fats. This is a game changer for me! I have way more energy, I’m more focused and can see the changes taking place in my body just from one month of this program! I don’t want to stop!!
This is so much more than just another workout or nutrition program, it’s a journey. A journey to see what motivates you, pushes you out of your comfort zone and challenges just how strong you are mentally and physically. It’s also about learning how to prioritize your health and making time for YOU. In doing so, I am seeing it fall into other areas of my life- I no longer feel bad for taking time to just relax or sleep in-that the things I need to get done will get done and that I need to listen to my body first! I am learning to trust the process and believe me that can be hard at times!
