In the beginning of September I decided to be in a 30 day online challenge group for Body Beast and Shakeology. I had never been in a challenge group before so I wanted to have that experience, plus it looked like fun! At first I was a little nervous and overwhelmed because as part of this challenge group we were to post a daily picture of our shakeology, one of our meals, which workout we did and a sweaty post workout selfie. Eek…I never take selfies much less pictures! Then there was the fear of everyone seeing it that wasn’t in the group. I have a hard time putting myself out there and this year has been one of pushing me to step outside of my comfort zone with everything and that is a good thing. The first 2 weeks I kept thinking I needed to do more cardio, so I added one extra day of cardio (Max 30) Everyone kept saying to “trust the process” so I am trusting the process and sticking to my one extra day of cardio. Well…a month went by so quick and I am happy to say I came in second place for my consistency and posting daily. What an amazing feeling- you can accomplish what you put your mind to when you focus on the end result!! I am now on week 5 on Body Beast and feel amazing! I am seeing changes although the scale says I gained 4 lbs, my waist has shrunk 1 inch and I see changes all over!
So for those of you wondering if this program is for women, it is! And No, you will not get huge like those female bodybuilders! Its impossible unless you start popping testosterone and bulking like no there is no tomorrow. Weight lifting will help you burn more calories; in fact your body will keep burning calories even while you sleep. It will also help improve your bone density and balance out your hormones.
There are two options in the Body Beast workout program. One is the Huge Body Beast and the other is the Lean Body Beast. The Lean Body Beast, as the name suggests, is ideal for women as it focuses on shedding fat and building lean muscles. Now although it focuses more on shedding fat, in order to keep the muscle building balanced, I suggest adding a little more cardio one to two times a week if you are wanting to lose weight. That can be Max30, Focus T25 or even Cize if you like dance cardio. By adding extra cardio, you can start losing weight faster while building muscle as well by keeping it balanced. For now I am only adding one extra cardio a week but plan on increasing it. My goal is not to lose weight, but to gain more muscle.
I highly recommend joining a challenge group because it is a great form of accountability and support! I will be starting one next month and the only requirements I have are that I am your coach and you are on Shakeology. Any Beachbody program will work! To have me as your coach sign up here!
For this month you can get the Body Beast challenge pack (includes Shakeology) for only $140!
