
Reiki works on the physical level, as well as the emotional and mental levels, which (according to body/mind principles) is where all disease, imbalance, and illness begins. By working with all three levels, you’re addressing the root causes of the dysfunction along with the resulting physical ailment. This approach results in a more long-lasting and complete healing.
It may take only one session to clear a physical issue, or it may take several sessions. Everybody’s bodies and situations are all very different. We have seen what would be considered serious physical imbalances shift completely in one session while other more mild imbalances take months of Reiki balancing. There is really no set result - it varies by individual. A person’s “body/mind” is in charge and will use the Reiki energy as it best sees fit for the person’s highest and best good. The emotional and mental shifts happen first, which can happen rather quickly, depending on the person. The physical body, because it is more dense, can take a while longer to “catch up” and integrate the energetic changes made on the mental and emotional levels.
Reiki is a wonderful, safe and effective healing modality to use in all situations, Research has shown that in addition to deep relaxation and stress-reduction, there is a reduction in muscle tension and pain, accelerated wound healing, and a greater sense of overall health and well-being. It’s useful during illness, after injuries, and pre and post-op. The ways in which Reiki are helpful are limitless.
Reiki can be used by itself, or as a compliment to traditional and holistic medical approaches.
How sessions are conducted:
Sessions are done remotely as Reiki distance healings are just as powerful and effective as an in-person session because energy has no time or space limitations. Doing a distance healing for someone on the other side of the world is just as effective as if I were in the same room.
At the appointment time, call the phone number given on your appointment confirmation email to meet me for your session. Five to ten minutes will be spent going over the questions that you answered during booking and the reasons and goals for your appointment, and setting the intention for the healing session. I will then play some soft music that you will enjoy while I do the healing work for you. You can simply close your eyes and relax or meditate or even sleep if you like. Your only job is to be in a place where you’re warm and comfortable and won’t be disturbed, be open, and allow yourself to receive. (If you’re having a difficult time receiving, this is something that can also be worked on through Reiki.) The entire session will last approximately one hour.
Please do not consume any mind-altering products before the session, such as alcohol, marijuana, or medications (unless necessary) that might impair your clarity.
What to expect:
During a session, a client may feel the energy coursing through their body, they may feel pressure, heat, coolness, or tingling. They may see colors, they may feel unexpectedly emotional, or they may feel nothing at all. All of this is completely normal. If the client falls asleep, which is common, this also has no impact on the session. If emotions come up, I encourage you to let them flow. The body is releasing something, even if you’re not consciously aware of what it is and what’s causing you to feel emotional. Trust your body and allow the process - the body/mind knows what it’s doing. After a session, the client will generally feel very relaxed and peaceful. They will have a greater sense of well-being, clarity, and lightness.
I will leave it up to the client and how they’re feeling as to whether further Reiki sessions are needed.

- Be gentle with yourself. Allow yourself time to just relax and rest, and integrate the healing energies you’ve just received.
- Make sure to drink a lot of clean, healthy water to keep hydrated as your body’s energy systems may be working at a higher rate after your session, so support your body and these changes with hydration and healthy foods.
- It’s helpful to spend some quiet time after your session to journal or contemplate, as you may have some insights and further mental clarity as your body continues to process the Reiki session. If anything emotional came up, this would be especially helpful and advantageous to journal and write it all down. Even if you’re not consciously aware of what your body is releasing through your emotions or why, or where they’re coming from, writing them down and allow yourself to cry and release the emotions as much as you wish. This is powerful healing work. If you wish, you can shred or crumple this writing up and throw it into the fireplace to further release it. What we continue to think about, read over and over again, or keep tied to us continues to affect us and have power over us. Release it and then move forward. If more comes up, that’s great! Perhaps another Reiki session would be in order to help to release that layer also. Each and every step is progress!
